huge herd of native whitetail.
Along Pinto Creek, in the
century old oaks, one can hear
the call of Rio Grande turkey as
they fly to roost every
afternoon. If you like to hunt
year around this is the place
for you! The Ranch has a large
herd of Axis and Blackbuck which
thrive in the thick grass and
Mesquite covered pastures.
THE HEADQUARTERS
There is a comfortable
lodge/home on the banks of Pinto
Creek with killer views of the
clear running water. There are
two other cabins near the
lighted roping arena and a very
nice horse barn. Also in the
Headquarters area is an
equipment barn, feed shed and
overhead feed storage. in the SE
corner of the ranch there is a
modest Hunters Cabin and a
processing shed.
GETTING THERE
Located approximately 5 miles
west of Brackettville on the
South side of Hwy. 90 and only
25 miles east of the Del Rio
Airport, with commercial jet
service. Mexico with dining and
shopping and Lake Amistad for
great fishing are only a short
drive.
WILDLIFE
The ranch’s native habitat
includes a mixture of huge oak
trees along the creek, with
plentiful acorns and clear
running water, that attracts
large flocks of turkey in the
spring and fall. Smaller oak,
hackberry, and elm create a
diverse woody cover in the
bottom with Mesquite and very
desirable South Texas brush
making up the majority of the
Ranch . There are Great
Whitetail that have been
extensively managed for superior
antler growth and have an
estimated 1:1 ratio. Recently
the owners have introduced a
number of bred female does from
a well known South Texas Ranch
to further enhance the quality
of the herd. Rio Grande turkey
flourish in the bottoms with
White Wing Dove and a large herd
of Axis and Blackbuck adding to
the excitement. The owner, an
avid quail hunter, has managed
the Bobwhite population with
supplemental feeding and water
making the Ranch a Great Quail
Place. Fishing is great in the
creek with Catfish, Bass, and
perch all competing for your
hook.
